OCTG Specialists (Oil Country Tubular Goods) Drilling engineers

The candidate will be the specialist for oil field tubulars including Tubing and casing for Drill Pipes, HW Drill Pipes and Drill Collars.


General Requirements

  • Knowledge of tubing, casing, Drill pipe and BHA products, applications, industry standards and inspection requirements.
  • Knowledge in different manufacturing processes for different materials of OCTG.
  • Well and Casing Design for different types of well applications with knowledge of applicable software program.
  • Knowledge in Drill Pipe and BHA string design, torque and drag analysis.
  • Knowledge in Premium grades and premium connection qualification requirements.
  • Knowledge in Selection of materials and connections for different applications.
  • Field experiences in supporting trouble shooting during running, make up or inspection of tubulars.
  • Failure analysis experiences.
  • Internal and external coating requirements and applications.
  • Auditing and qualifying manufacturers and service providers including tubular running, inspection, repair machine shops and coating applicators.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Petroleum or Chemical engineering.
  • 2 years experiences as drilling engineer.
  • 3 years experiences as a drilling / rig foreman or Liaison.
  • 5 years experiences of working as OCTG technical engineer in the following areas;
  • Technical evaluation for procured equipment.
  • Assessing and re-assessing manufacturers and sub-contractors of equipment.
  • Assessing and qualifying casing running companies, inspection companies and coating applicators.
  • Carry and perform failure investigation and provide recommendation.
  • Casing, tubing, Drill pipe and BHA design.
  • Scope for equipment modifications and coating procedures.
  • Evaluate new technologies and alternatives.


Daily Duty and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Drilling and Workover organization as required.
  • Provide required supports for D&WO organizations working with other organizations inside and outside Saudi Aramco.
  • Responsible for qualification and standardization of equipment.
  • Evaluate new technologies and alternatives.
  • Initiate, coordinate and issue reports for trial tests of equipment.
  • Review new proposed menus and revised menus for accuracy and standardization.
  • Write scope of work and provide sketches for equipment modifications/coating.
  • Find applications for excess inventory and alternative for any shortage.
  • Evaluate technical bids from suppliers as part of OCTG items purchasing process
  • Evaluate potential casing running, tubular inspection and machine shop companies.
  • Review of casing & tubing design.
  • Carry out failure investigations.
  • Maintain technical data of OCTG in Drilling Web.
  • Update Drilling & WO Manual (OCTG part)
