Overview: Aramco Asia Korea is seeking a Research Engineer to Support research team in development, evaluation and optimization of new processes. The position will have overall responsibility in assisting the development of reforming technologies for synthesis gas production, CO2 capture from hydrogen plants, and ammonia production
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-feasibility and full feasibility studies of reforming processes (steam reforming, gasification, partial oxidation) for hydrogen and hydrogen carrier production through process modeling and optimization
- Lead and assist in development of processes and technologies
- Provide hands-on assistance with the commissioning, operation and maintenance of pilot demonstration and pre-commercial units
- Liaise with production & facility planning personnel to ensure technology implementation within Saudi Aramco and affiliates facilities
- Train junior engineers, while keeping abreast with the engineering and scientific developments of oil-based fuel reforming technologies
- Assist with project management requirements of the hydrogen and sustainability programs
Academic/Professional Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree or above, in Chemical Engineering
Technical Skills Required:
- Provide hands-on assistance with the commissioning, operation and maintenance of pilot demonstration and pre-commercial units
- Familiar with various design codes & standards for high pressure and high temperature reactor and separator vessels
- Prior involvement with hydrocarbon-based technology development from concept to large scale implementation will be highly regarded, as will experience with front end engineering development (FEED)
- Assist with project management requirements of the hydrogen and sustainability programs
- Train junior engineers, while keeping abreast with the engineering and scientific developments of oil-based fuel reforming technologies
Experience:
- More than 5 years of professional experience, preferably in a design or operational role in the hydrocarbon-based hydrogen production technologies
- Conversant with various reforming technologies, for example Catalytic Partial Oxidation (CPOX), Autothermal Reforming (ATR), and Steam Reforming (SR), as well as emerging concepts relevant to synthesis gas and hydrogen production
- Knowledge and background in process modeling relevant to reforming reactions
Personality:
- Motivated, independent, and hard-working with research/technical background
- Proficient in English (Oral & written)
- Ability to work in diverse and cross-functional teams, with flexibility to work in different locations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
