Job Title: Senior Research Scientist

Overview: Aramco Asia Korea is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to lead research projects in the area of thermal and non-thermal pyrolysis. The Research Center conducts strategic research, development, and demonstration programs for clean energy production. The position involves both development and engineering tasks, as well as hands-on work on pilot and demonstration systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine development steps, deliverables, and milestones for research activities
- Estimate development schedules and resources, and develop business cases for technology deployment
- Oversee testing, analyze results, and write technical reports and publications
- Conduct pre-feasibility and full feasibility studies for various configurations, review engineering drawings, and engage with selected licensors for pilot demonstration scale
- Provide hands-on assistance with the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of pilot demonstration and pre-commercial pyrolysis units
- Liaise with peers in the company and various proponents to ensure developed technologies can be integrated into Saudi Aramco initiatives
Academic/Professional Qualification:
- PhD in Chemical or relevant Engineering
Technical Skills Required:
- Conduct basic and advanced pyrolysis research including thermal, catalytic and plasma pyrolysis to process heavy hydrocarbon streams, biomass and plastic waste and produce high value products
- Lead in process design and process modeling activities of new technologies related pyrolysis
- Lead activities related to pyrolysis technology scale-up, piloting, and demonstration
- Liaise with peers to integrate new technologies into Saudi Aramco initiatives
- Train young engineers and stay abreast of developments in pyrolysis technologies
- Familiar with conventional refining and petrochemical technologies
- Familiar with heavy stream characterization and advanced chemical analysis
- Familiar with various design codes and standards for high temperature/high pressure process designs
- Experience with Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Process & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development, and HAZOP studies
- Strong project management and process documentation experience
Experience:
- More than 10 years of working experience, preferably in a research or operational role in the oil & gas industry, OEMs, industrial gases companies, or engineering companies
- Conversant with thermodynamics and heat and mass transfer management
- Experience with software such as Matlab, PRO/II, HYSYS/Aspen Plus, and SolidWorks is a distinct advantage
Personality:
- Motivated, independent, and hard-working with a strong research/technical background
- Excellent command of oral and written English, with the ability to write and present technical papers
- Ability to work in diverse and cross-functional teams, with flexibility to work in different locations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
