Aramco Asia Korea Ltd. (Aramco Korea), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aramco, today announces a partnership with ChildFund Korea (ChildFund) to support fine dust protection efforts, especially for underprivileged children.

Aramco Korea, ChildFund and the Nambu District Office of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education signed the partnership agreement at the Seoul headquarters of ChildFund. During the event, Aramco Korea received a certificate of appreciation from the Mayor of Seoul in recognition of the company's commitment to citizenship efforts in Korea.

The joint project aims to protect Doshin Elementary School students by planting about 20,000 young trees along 450 square meters of paths surrounding the school, as well as providing safety kits containing a fine dust measuring device, face masks and hand sanitizers to underprivileged children at group homes in the Seoul Metropolitan area.

Upon completion of the project, the young trees planted around the school are expected to fend off fine dust particles and air pollutants from nearby roads. Along with distributing safety kits, ChildFund will also work to educate children at group homes to raise their awareness of fine dust and how to protect themselves and the environment.

Mr. Fahad A. Al-Sahali, Aramco Korea's Representative Director, said: “Exposure to pollutants in the air, including fine dust, could be harmful for people of all ages, but it affects some of the most vulnerable among us, children, in unique ways. As everyone has a role to play at every level in our community, we are proud that Aramco and ChildFund are coming together once again to make a collective and coordinated effort on fine dust issues, especially for underprivileged children. We hope the program will help them grow up healthy and strong.”

Je-hoon Lee, President of ChildFund, said: “We extend gratitude to Aramco Korea for supporting this meaningful program, which we believe will be effective in educating our children to protect themselves from fine dust and make the air around the school cleaner. We ask for continued support and interest in the project.”

Aramco Korea has long been active in supporting less fortunate children in the community in partnership with ChildFund. In 2014 and 2015, the Company supported living, medical and heating bills for less fortunate children through the 'Hope Recharge Korea' campaign, which was aired by Korea Broadcasting System. In 2019, Aramco Korea also provided fine dust precaution programs and safety kits to children at 15 group homes in the Seoul Metropolitan area.
